Have you ever thought about what your future phone might look like? At the moment you might be thinking that you’ll eventually be chatting away into your watch or maybe into some kind of wireless headset, but have you thought about the possibility of you and your phone becoming one?
Body hackers are starting to experiment with the implantation of electronic devices under the skin, and while this practice currently lies in the realm of extreme body modification (piercings, tattooing and alternative cosmetic implants), it might one day become the standard means of technological interaction.
Imagine having tiny sensors implanted into your finger tips that, when your hand has been folded or tapped in a certain way, allows you make or receive phone calls. You’d never lose your phone into the toilet bowl again!
On the other hand, there would be some downsides to having your phone on you all the time… What do you think? Would the convenience of ‘being’ your phone outweigh the negatives? I’m not sure I’m ready to be literally attached to my phone.
